A police investigation has been initiated following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media showing a man brutally assaulting a 4-year-old child while the child was eating at home.
The suspect, identified as Kukul Chaminda, also known as Bibile Chaminda, resided in Sampathanuwara, Padaviya.
A concerned neighbor recorded the assault and shared the video on social media.
Reportedly, the suspect had previously assaulted the child on multiple occasions, but no one had informed the police due to fear.
In response, a team of officers, led by the OIC of the Sampathanuwara police station, raided the suspect's house. However, the suspect had already fled, prompting the police to conduct a search operation to apprehend him.
