Police arrested a 31-year-old suspect in connection with the theft of a British tourist's bag containing valuables worth Rs. 2.5 million on a bus at Bastian Mawatha in Pettah.
The suspect, a resident of Pethiyagoda, Kelaniya, was arrested by Pettah Police early this morning. Stolen items, including a camera, laptop, bank cards, and the British lady's passport, were recovered.
Investigations revealed that the tourist, a YouTuber documenting her visit to Sri Lanka, was preparing to depart for Ella from Bastian Mawatha when her bag was stolen.
