The prevailing showery and windy conditions over the island are set to persist due to the active South West Monsoonal condition, the Department of Meteorology announced today.
Residents in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, and Southern provinces can expect frequent showers. Some areas within the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Nuwara-Eliya district, may experience heavy showers exceeding 100 mm.
In the Uva province, as well as the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, showers or thundershowers are anticipated in the evening or at night.
Additionally, strong winds ranging from 50 to 60 kmph are forecasted for the Western slopes of the central hills and across the Northern, North-central, Western, Southern, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Monaragala districts.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure safety and minimize potential disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions.
