Sri Lanka’s Committee on Public Finances (COPF) is set to reveal the details behind the controversial VFS Global visa agreement, according to committee head Harsha de Silva.

Despite officials from the Department of Immigration and Ministry of Public Security declining to attend the committee's meeting on May 28, de Silva announced that the next session is scheduled for May 4.

"We have uncovered many details and will release everything after the final meeting," de Silva stated in a Twitter post. "COPF is committed to exposing the truth behind the controversial GBS/IVS tender."

The VFS Global deal has sparked significant controversy, leading to the replacement of Sri Lanka's user-friendly online visa system, previously available for one dollar via mobile, with a more complicated VFS Global website charging up to 25 dollars for some visas.

Furthermore, the Sri Lankan cabinet has lost the ability to issue free visas, with allegations that 'free visas' are being charged 11 dollars by VFS Global.
