The Aluthgama police have launched an investigation into the theft of Rs. 1.45 million from an American businessman staying at a luxury hotel in the area.
Following a complaint from the American national, Andrew Christopher Lucas, police initiated the investigation.
According to Lucas, who arrived at the hotel on May 23, he awoke around 4:20 a.m. on the 24th to find someone reaching through the open curtain of his room. The suspect fled upon Lucas shouting for help.
Subsequently, Lucas informed the hotel staff and conducted a thorough check, revealing that his bag containing $4,000, 210,000 Sri Lankan rupees, his passport, and driver's license were missing.
