Sri Lankan Paralympic gold medalist Dinesh Priyantha Herath, who recently secured second place in the Javelin Throw F-46 category at the World Para Athletics Championship in Kobe, Japan, has been disqualified following a protest regarding his eligibility.
The complaint triggered a medical classification review for Herath, leading to his disqualification from the event. Consequently, India’s Rinku Hooda and Ajeet Singh have been elevated to receive the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Despite Herath having already secured qualification for the Paris Olympics, this disqualification could pose a significant setback to his Paralympic aspirations.
