The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has announced plans to leverage existing government office networks to deliver financial literacy content to key demographics, specifically targeting youth and women.

This initiative is part of the CBSL's newly unveiled "Financial Literacy Roadmap of Sri Lanka 2024–2028," which falls under the "Financial Literacy and Capacity Building" pillar of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy.

Before rolling out the program, CBSL will conduct a thorough analysis and necessary modifications to enhance the effectiveness of the current network systems in disseminating financial education.

The roadmap aims to foster collaboration among various stakeholders and financial literacy service providers to maximize impact and ensure efficient resource use. This synergistic approach is expected to create a cohesive framework for improving financial literacy across the nation.

As part of its four-pillar action plan, CBSL's initial focus will be on actions coordinated under the 'Harmonised Content Strategic Priority.' Existing stakeholders, including CBSL regional offices, the Ministry of Health's community health network, regulated financial service providers (RFSPs) utilizing SMS services, and educational institutions, will play a crucial role in this initiative.

The CBSL intends to enhance these networks to serve as effective channels for financial literacy content delivery. A comprehensive framework has been established to ensure the roadmap's success, but the CBSL emphasizes that high-level support from all national stakeholders is essential for this nationwide effort to succeed.
