A high-level delegation of Thai officials and private sector representatives convened at Sri Lanka's Ministry of Power & Energy to discuss potential cooperation in renewable energy. 

The meeting, which took place on Monday, was announced by Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera on the social media platform X.

The Thai delegation included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy, Royal Thai Embassy, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), PTT Public Company Limited, and Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited. 

Their visit follows directives from the Prime Minister of Thailand to assess the feasibility and potential for future renewable energy investments and cooperation in Sri Lanka, particularly in electricity generation.

Discussions during the meeting covered a range of topics, including policies and plans for the electricity sector, multilateral interconnections, proposed sector reforms, necessary investments in renewable energy, the potential of green hydrogen, and various avenues for energy cooperation between the two nations.
