Former State Minister Diana Gamage has been granted bail after appearing before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court regarding allegations of obtaining a Sri Lankan passport with false information.

Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered Diana Gamage's release on a cash bail of Rs. 500,000, along with two sureties of Rs. 1 million each. The magistrate noted a lack of evidence suggesting the suspect would evade the inquiry.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), investigating the matter, has named Diana Gamage as a suspect. In 2021, the CID filed a B report in the Chief Magistrate’s Court against her following a complaint alleging that she is a British citizen residing in Sri Lanka without dual citizenship status. The investigation stemmed from a complaint lodged by social activist Oshala Herath.
