Amid mounting concerns over potential irregularities in the 2023 (2024) G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha has moved swiftly to address the situation, reassuring affected students of decisive action to prevent injustices.
Responding to queries raised by Member of Parliament Rohini Kaviratne during today's parliamentary session, Minister Premajayantha affirmed that steps are being taken to investigate and rectify any discrepancies pertaining to the English and Science question papers. He emphasized that a final decision regarding the matter will be reached after consultations with the panel responsible for preparing the O/L science paper.
The Education Minister highlighted that the Commissioner General of the Department of Examinations has issued a statement acknowledging the concerns raised. Additionally, he assured that the panel will adjust the marking scheme as necessary to uphold fairness and integrity in the examination process, thus safeguarding the interests of students.
In a bid to address the broader issues surrounding examination integrity, Minister Premajayantha pledged to implement necessary measures aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability within the education system.
