
Polling dates set for 2024 Presidential Election in Sri Lanka

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has officially announced the polling dates for the highly anticipated 2024 presidential election. In a notice signed by its chairman, R. M. A. L. Ratnayake, the Commission stated that the election will be held on a day between September 17 and October 16, 2024.
The announcement comes in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Sri Lanka and the Presidential Elections Act, No. 15 of 1981.
The Commission emphasized its authority to fix the date for the election and confirmed its commitment to conducting the electoral process in a fair, transparent, and constitutional manner.
With the polling dates now set, political parties and candidates are expected to gear up for the nomination process, which will also take place within the specified timeframe.
