Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s daughter, Chamithri Rambukwella, has lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL), alleging that her father’s human rights have been violated.

MP Keheliya Rambukwella is currently in remand custody in connection with the case related to the importation of substandard Immunoglobulin vaccines and has been denied bail on multiple occasions.

In her complaint to the HRCSL today (Mar 27), Chamithri Rambukwella asserts that her father’s human rights have been infringed upon and urges the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka to promptly investigate the matter.

Earlier this week, Chamithri Rambukwella also submitted a bail application at the Colombo High Court seeking her father’s release.

She filed a revision petition at the Colombo High Court, requesting bail for her father on conditions deemed appropriate by the court.

However, the Attorney General objected to the bail application for Keheliya Rambukwella.

Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama, representing the Attorney General, informed the court that the petitioner had not disclosed all relevant facts to the court, including the Magistrate’s court proceedings on February 29, 2024.

High Court Judge Sujeewa Nissanka has scheduled a hearing on the Attorney General’s preliminary objections for April 03, 2024.
