A 5.56mm live ammunition was discovered in the luggage of an Israeli woman traveling back to Israel from a trip to Sri Lanka.
She was intercepted at Bandaranaike International Airport and promptly turned over to airport police early today (04).
The tourist, a 22-year-old former Israeli army soldier, had been visiting Sri Lanka with a friend.
She had arrived at Katunayake airport to catch Fly Dubai flight FZ-570, scheduled for departure to Dubai at 01:55 this morning (04).
Airport security officials inspected her luggage and uncovered the ammunition.
Subsequently, the woman was handed over to Katunayake Airport police along with the bullet.
