The Wellawatta Police launched investigations to arrest Mohammad Isham Jamaldeen, the son of Uva Provincial Governor A.J.M. Musammil, in connection with a disturbing assault case.

Jamaldeen is currently on the run following a brutal attack on a young woman that left her hospitalized.

The incident occurred early morning at an apartment complex in Havelock Gardens, Colombo. The victim, a resident of the complex, sustained severe injuries and is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

Responding to a complaint, the Wellawatta Police initiated investigations into the assault. Subsequent inquiries revealed the seriousness of the situation, prompting a urgent manhunt for the suspect.

Despite extensive searches of his residences in Kollupitiya and Kappatipola areas, Jamaldeen remains avoiding arrest.

Police said they had informed the court and obtained a travel ban against Jamaldeen.
