The Centre for Society and Religion lodged a writ petition with the Court of Appeal, urging for a credible investigation and necessary actions against Senior DIG Nilantha Jayawardena for his alleged negligence leading to the 2019 Easter Sunday bombing.
The petition, filed by the Centre, its Chairman Fr. Rohan Silva, and Surach Nilanga, an Easter Sunday attack survivor, names Inspector General of Police (IGP), Senior DIG Nilantha Jayawardena, and the Attorney General as respondents.
The petitioners are seeking a Writ of Mandamus to direct the IGP and the Attorney General to promptly initiate actions to implement the findings and recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry formed in response to the Easter Sunday attacks.
