The Additional Secretary of the Health Ministry Saman Ratnayake had been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today over the controversial procurement of substandard human immunoglobulin vaccines.
Police said Dr Saman Ratnayake was arrested when he arrived at the CID to provide a statement.
The CID recorded statements from Mr. Ratnayake on several previous occasion.
Several key individuals including former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Former Health Secretary, Medical Supplies Division Director are currently in remand custody over the Immunoglobulin scandal.
