A total of 38 individuals, including 27 schoolchildren sustained injuries when a SLTB bus veered off the road and overturned at the Kodayana bend on the Siyambalanduwa-Monaragala road.
The injured were admitted to the Siyambalanduwa Base Hospital, with six of them in critical condition subsequently transferred to the Monaragala General Hospital.
Investigations disclosed that the bus was fully occupied, carrying 60 passengers at the time of the accident.
The driver of the bus had been arrested and Siyambalanduwa police are conducting further investigations.
