Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon said that he hopes to adapt the methods used by the world's most advanced countries to solve crimes for the Sri Lanka Police.
During an event at the Colombo Record Division (CRD), where certificates were awarded to officers who excelled in the Advance Grade and Elementary examinations in Fingerprint Science, IGP Tennakoon outlined his plans for significant changes within the police department in the near future.
Having served over four years as the Senior DIG in Charge of the Western Province, Tennakoon announced his transition to new responsibilities.
He commended the CRD for its outstanding contribution to recent operations targeting crime reduction and drug elimination.
Tennakoon articulated his vision for the future, emphasizing a transformational shift towards aligning the Sri Lanka Police with the methodologies employed by the world's leading nations in crime resolution. Reflecting on his tenure as Senior DIG, he acknowledged the collaborative efforts of officers in combating crime in high-risk areas such as the Western Province.
The event was attended by Senior DIG Crime and Traffic Priyantha Weerasuriya, Senior DIG Asanka Karavita, and Crime DIG Nihal Thalduwa, among others.
