The Sri Lankan Education Ministry is set to unveil a series of educational publications aimed at providing comprehensive sex education from early childhood development through adulthood, announced the Parliamentary Caucus for Children.

Officials from the Education Ministry disclosed plans to launch these publications on March 7th, 2024, during a recent meeting chaired by Member of Parliament Rohini Kumari Wijeratne. The initiative, driven by research confirming a need for improved sex education knowledge in Sri Lanka, targets various age groups, from preschool children to those in the 13th grade and beyond.

These publications are crafted by experts in the field and have received full supervision and approval from the Ministers of Education and Health.

In the initial phase, the publications will be accessible as electronic publications (E-publications). Officials stress that by equipping individuals of all ages with formalized sex education, the initiative aims to address societal challenges and protect children from potential crises.
