Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon assured the Court of Appeal today that clear procedures for arrests, including reasons, complainant details, and notification guidelines will be provided to all police stations.
This pledge comes as part of the IGP's commitment to the Supreme Court made during the consideration of a fundamental rights petition concerning the arrest of an individual over a Facebook post.
IGP Tennakoon appeared before the Supreme Court today regarding a Fundamental Rights petition filed by Energy Analyst Vidhura Ralapanawe. The petition challenges the CID's summons related to the release of an official document on social media.
