The Colombo Chief Magistrate has issued an open warrant for the arrest of the prime suspect implicated in the theft of over Rs. 1 million from a residence situated in Ward Place, Colombo. The property belongs to the administrative officer of the Vietnam Embassy.
Identified as Mohammed Niyas Mohamed Rikas, a resident of Deans Road in Maradana, the suspect stands accused of perpetrating this crime. However, his absence during the court proceedings led Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis to authorize the open warrant against him, as he continues to evade judicial proceedings while the case remains pending.
According to reports, the burglary occurred in the early hours of June 26, 2023, around 3:30 a.m., when the suspect unlawfully entered the premises and made away with the stolen funds. This latest development underscores the urgency in apprehending the suspect to ensure justice prevails in this unsettling incident.
