At least 83 fatalities linked to homicides have been recorded since the start of the year, Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa said today.
Alongside this alarming figure, reports have tallied 1,180 instances of housebreaking and property theft, with an additional 310 reported cases of robbery within the same timeframe.
Addressing the media in a press conference, DIG Nihal Thalduwa underscored ongoing efforts by the police to address the surge in criminal activities gripping the community.
Further exacerbating the situation, the Police Media Spokesman disclosed that approximately 20 shooting incidents have been documented since the beginning of the year.
Shockingly, investigations have unveiled the involvement of organized crime syndicates in nearly half of these violent episodes, highlighting the depth of the challenge faced by authorities.
