Police launched an investigation into a theft of Rs. 100,000 from an office of a primary school in Avissawella, which was donated by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa a few days ago.
According to the police, the opposition leader had donated Rs. 100,000 to Puwakpitiya South Primary School when he visited the school under the 'Sakwala' program on February 23.
A complaint was made to the Avissawella police by the school Principal that someone broke the front door of the office and the doors of all the cupboards there, and then stole the donated money.
When the students came to the school to set up the classrooms, they saw that the office door was broken.
