Sri Lanka's T20I captain, Wanindu Hasaranga, has reportedly been fined for his undisciplined behavior towards the umpire during the third and final T20 match against Afghanistan at the Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
According to sources within Sri Lanka Cricket, he has been banned for two matches and fined 50 percent of his match fee.
It has also been reported that the International Cricket Council informed Sri Lanka Cricket of this decision yesterday (23rd).
As a result, Hasaranga is likely to miss the first two matches of the T20 series against Bangladesh.
The series, scheduled to start on the 4th of next month, comprises three matches.
Wanindu Hasaranga expressed his protest against the decision of umpire Lyndon Hannibal during the third match against Afghanistan.
There was a heated exchange of words between Hasaranga and the umpire on the field regarding not declaring a no-ball in the last over of the match.
Following the incident, Hasaranga criticized the umpire's decisions during the press conference, suggesting that if Lyndon Hannibal continues to make such calls, he should consider another profession.
However, the umpire also filed a complaint with the match referee, Chris Broad.
Hasaranga has been charged with a Level 2 offense under the ICC Code of Conduct for this incident.
Having previously received two demerit points for past offenses, Hasaranga has been banned for two matches.
