Immigration officers at Katunayake Airport arrested two Sri Lankan youths as they tried to escape to Europe using forged "Greek" tourist visas.
The suspects, a 34-year-old from Vavuniya and a 26-year-old from Jaffna, were arrested at the airport's arrival terminal.
Their plan was to catch Qatar Airways flight QRR-663 bound for Doha, scheduled to depart at 4:35 AM on February 23. From Doha, they intended to transit to Paris, France, and then make their way to Munich, Germany.
However, authorities thwarted their efforts during routine screening procedures.
