The Attorney General submitted preliminary objections before the Supreme Court, seeking the dismissal of a basic human rights petition filed by Parliamentarian M. Sumanthiran.

The petition challenges the validity of the Online Safety Bill, contending that it was not properly passed in Parliament.

Parliamentarian Sumanthiran's petition calls for a ruling asserting that the aforementioned Bill has not met the necessary parliamentary procedures. However, before the three-judge bench comprising Priyantha Jayawardene, Shiran Gunaratne, and Achala Wengappuli, the Attorney General raised objections to dismiss the petition without a hearing.
