A 36-year-old Chinese woman residing at Mangala Mawatha in Beruwala found herself in police custody following an altercation with law enforcement officers this afternoon.

Police said the incident unfolded when two police officers responded to a complaint regarding the presence of a Chinese woman residing in the country without a valid visa.

According to police, the officers had visited a residence on Mangala Road in Beruwala to investigate the complaint. It was during their interaction at the location that the assault occurred, stemming from a conversation between the officers and the woman in question.

In the aftermath of the incident, the two assaulted police officers were promptly referred to the Judicial Medical Officer at Nagoda Teaching Hospital for assessment and necessary medical attention. Meanwhile, the arrested woman is to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate.
