During a raid conducted by Wennappuwa police officers, a married couple was arrested for transporting 21g of heroin in a three-wheeler.
Police said the male suspect, a resident of Dambadeniya was arrested alongside his 28-year-old wife.
Upon their arrest, it was discovered that the female suspect had swallowed two pills of 1g heroin. Following presentation to the Marawila Judicial Medical Officer, she was admitted to Marawila Hospital where the swallowed pills were recovered.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Wennappuwa Police, with a 7-day detention order in place for both suspects.
