Homagama Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya today (19) ordered the remand of six individuals, including three millionaire businessmen, following their arrest in connection with the shooting of a woman and the theft of money from a wholesaler at Megoda Economic Center. They will remain in custody until March 5.
The suspects, arrested on February 17th, underwent 48 hours of interrogation. Following this, they were brought before the magistrate at his official residence.
Two businessmen, held by the Meegoda police for their alleged involvement in the robbery, were presented to the magistrate's office by the Meegoda police. Additionally, four other suspects, detained by the criminal investigation unit of the Nugegoda police division, were brought to the magistrate's office by that division.
Meanwhile, banners and posters throughout Megoda Economic Center express gratitude to the police officers, under the leadership of Acting Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon, for swiftly apprehending all suspects within five days of the robbery.
