Piliyandala Police have arrested two young women involved in drug trafficking with the large-scale drug trafficker Sithum, also known as 'Santa,' who is believed to be hiding in France. The narcotics seized during the operation have a street value of Rs. 1 million.
At the time of the raid, the police arrested two youths who had come to buy drugs and were found consuming them.
Along with the suspects, 250 grams of hashish, 15 pills (or dancing tablets), an electronic scale, and 8 mobile phones have been taken into custody.
The Piliyandala Police received information that 'Santa,' who is said to be carrying out drug trafficking on a large scale from France, is using young women for his operations.
It was revealed that the top floor of a building in Polgasovita, Kahathuduwa, was rented as a distribution point.
During the questioning of the suspected women, it was revealed that drug trafficking is carried out from Boralasgamuwa to Kahathuduwa, and the drugs are received through unknown persons based on instructions given by Santa from France through WhatsApp.
The two arrested women, residents of Bandaragama and Dehiwala, and male suspects, residents of Piliyandala, are to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court."
