Dehiwela Zoo experiences surge in revenue, visitors
The Dehiwela Zoo has reported a notable increase in revenue, generating Rs. 52 million within the initial 40 days of the year, thanks to a remarkable influx of 16,000 visitors.
H.A. Anoma Priyadarshani, Director of Operations, attributes the zoo's burgeoning success to its innovative programming initiatives and enhanced facilities aimed at captivating visitors' interest.
Under Priyadarshani's leadership, the zoo has implemented various engaging programs, enticing guests to partake in animal-centric activities and interact with the diverse wildlife.
Visitors are treated to a unique experience, being able to witness animal activities up close and personally feed birds, fish, elephants, and giraffes. However, it's essential to note that such interactions are supervised by zoo employees, ensuring the safety and well-being of both visitors and animals.
The extended operational hours from 8:30 am to 6 pm daily offer ample opportunities for guests to immerse themselves in the zoo's offerings and foster a sense of connection and compassion towards the resident animals.
