According to a survey conducted by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lankan exporters have emphasized the importance of political stability and a consistent energy supply as crucial factors for export growth in 2024.
The Export Barometer Survey revealed that increasing utility prices and transportation costs posed significant challenges in 2023.
Despite these obstacles, exporters expressed confidence in their growth prospects for the coming year. Service-oriented exporters highlighted the challenge of a lack of skilled labor, while also identifying new business opportunities that led to workforce expansion to meet production demands.
The report noted robust growth in the export sector in 2023, with digital transformation emerging as a key trend. Exporting firms, particularly SMEs, embraced digital tools for streamlined processes, from digital marketing to cutting-edge technologies, enhancing global visibility.
Despite global uncertainties, Sri Lankan exporters remain optimistic about economic and export growth in 2024. Strategic measures, including adopting competitive pricing strategies, are planned to boost export orders and sustain momentum in the export sector.
