In a historic moment for Sri Lanka's rubber industry, 169 rubber harvesting assistants were honored with NVQ-3 certificates, marking the first-ever such recognition in the country.
The ceremony took place at the Agalawatta Rubber Research Institute, where these assistants underwent rigorous training for two weeks.
This significant milestone was made possible through the efforts of the National Apprenticeship Board, which responded to a request from the Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industries to provide national vocational skills certificates to rubber harvesting assistants. Designating them as "Rubber Harvesting Assistants" aims to uphold the dignity of the profession, ensuring due recognition for their vital role in the rubber tapping process.
During the ceremony, the Rubber Research Institute went the extra mile by presenting the certificates to the recipients adorned in graduation attire, symbolizing the importance of their achievement.
