A doctor has been arrested by police on suspicion of smuggling high dosage pills through brokers in Gampola and surrounding areas.
The doctor was arrested while delivering a stock of medicines worth Rs. 160,000 to another individual.
Police have discovered that the doctor, residing in the Gelioya area, is involved in smuggling through medical centers and hospital services.
Operating clandestinely at night, the doctor sold drugs to smuggling networks in various areas, utilizing a car for transportation.
Both the doctor and the vehicle are scheduled to appear in Gampola court today (14).
