The Cabinet of Sri Lanka has given the green light for the establishment of a National Hospital and a Children’s Hospital in the Biyagama area.
The decision stems from the pressing need to cater to the escalating requirements for medical facilities, driven by both population growth and industrial expansion in the region, as highlighted by government authorities.
The Gampaha District, serving as a pivotal service hub, has witnessed a surge in demand for healthcare services. Recognizing this imperative, the proposal to construct a National Hospital and a dedicated Children’s Hospital under a public-private partnership model has been endorsed by the Cabinet.
The comprehensive proposal, jointly presented by the President and the Minister of Health, received unanimous approval, marking a pivotal step towards meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the community.
The project's implementation is contingent upon the acquisition of two parcels of land measuring 7 acres and 3 roods, strategically located within the Biyagama North village officer’s domain.
