The Colombo Crime Division has arrested a suspect named Samika, who is a close relative of underworld leader Kosgoda Sujee Kosgoda, in connection with the murder of five individuals in Beliatta. Alongside Samika, authorities seized a T56 firearm believed to have been used in the crime, along with a magazine and 32 live bullets.
Police said that the arrested suspect is a former soldier who had deserted from the army.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Nevil De Silva, Director of the Colombo Crime Division, received information regarding the suspect's possession of an illegal firearm. Acting on this intelligence, a specialized team successfully arrested the suspect.
