A specialist doctor from the Badulla area was forcibly imprisoned in a house in Metiyagoda, demanding a ransom of Rs. 4 million, and was rescued by the police.
Hikkaduwa police arrested a tutor who abducted and demanded the ransom from the specialist.
The abducted doctor, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist in Badulla, was deceived by the 28-year-old suspect tutor from Metiyagoda.
The suspect lured the doctor to Metiyagoda via phone, abducted him, and held him captive for two and a half days.
The doctor was threatened with death if he didn't pay the ransom, police said.
