A 14-year-old schoolboy tragically lost his life when a tree branch collapsed on him while he was walking along Norwood Road.
The incident occurred as the boy was en route to the town to have his hair cut.
Despite being rushed to Nawalapitiya Hospital, the young victim succumbed to his injuries.
Police have arrested five individuals involved in the tree-cutting process in connection with the unfortunate event.
