The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States has lodged a complaint with the Sri Lankan Police regarding the circulation of a sexual abuse video involving a minor child from Sri Lanka on the Internet.
The Children and Women's Bureau informed the Colombo Magistrate's Court that authorities are currently investigating whether the footage circulating online, depicting a nine-year-old child, originates from Sri Lanka.
Police said investigations are underway to identify suspects within Sri Lanka and bring them to justice,
A report containing the pertinent video evidence was presented to Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera. Upon review, the Magistrate instructed updates on the investigation's progress and authorized further inquiries.
