Three suspects, including Dinesha Wirattani, who served as the head invigilator at Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya and were arrested in connection with the recent leakage of GCE A/L Agriculture papers, have been granted bail by Ampara Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Nayomi Wickramaratne.
The head invigilator, Daminda Lakmal, an Agriculture science teacher at Ampara D.S. Senanayake College, and Sumudu Chinthana, an office assistant, were all arrested in connection with the incident.
The magistrate ordered the release of the suspects upon two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each. Additionally, one guarantor must be a close relative, confirmed by an affidavit.
Furthermore, the suspects were instructed to surrender their passports to the court and were prohibited from traveling abroad.
The Magistrate emphasized that the suspects must appear before the Criminal Investigation Department on the last Sunday of every month and cautioned that bail would be revoked if witnesses were intimidated. The case has been adjourned until May 8.
