Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella complied with a court order on Friday morning (Feb. 2) by arriving at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) premises.

Initially scheduled to appear before the CID on Wednesday (Jan. 31), Rambukwella was unable to do so due to his involvement in a case before the Colombo High Court and a ministerial sub-committee meeting at the Presidential Secretariat. Accordingly, he formally requested the CID, in writing, to reschedule his statement.

On Thursday (Feb. 1), the Maligakanda Magistrate directed the former health minister to provide a statement to the CID regarding his alleged connection to the procurement of substandard medicines. Additionally, a foreign travel ban was imposed on him.
