A significant disruption has surfaced in the evaluation process of the 2023 GCE A/Level examination as teachers have opted to boycott the marking of answer sheets, citing grievances over unpaid allowances.
The Teachers and Principals Trade Union declared a withdrawal from the crucial task of marking A/L answer sheets, effective as of yesterday, attributing their decision to the non-payment of allowances promised for the task.
Joseph Stalin, a prominent figure within the Union, voiced concerns over the absence of the Rs. 2,000 per day allowance typically disbursed for the arduous task of assessing A/L answer sheets. Last year, teachers received this special allowance, which aimed to compensate for the intensive nature of the marking process.
However, this time around, the promised allowance has been conspicuously absent, prompting the collective action of teachers in refraining from the evaluation process.
