In a daring heist, a group of thieves breached the walls of a prominent leasing company's branch in Chilaw, making off with approximately Rs. 7.1 million from its safes.
According to police, the perpetrators gained entry into the leasing branch yesterday by breaking through the walls. Subsequently, they remained on the premises for several hours, utilizing a mechanical grinder to cut open two safes.
Upon returning to work yesterday morning (January 31), employees of the leasing branch discovered the aftermath of the burglary, finding the safes of the company forcibly opened and a significant sum of money missing.
Authorities have initiated investigations to arrest the suspects involved in this audacious theft.
