The wife, son, and sister of Dematagoda Ruwan, brother of Dematagoda Chaminda, who has been sentenced to death, were arrested by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.
This action was taken following allegations against Ruwan Chamila Prasanna, also known as Dematagoda Ruwan, for involvement in drug trafficking, organized crime, and the illegal acquisition of properties valued over Rs. 100 million in their names.
Among those arrested is 27-year-old Tharindu Madhushanka, Ruwan's son, who holds a prominent position as the organizer of the Kuppiyawatta electorate for a political party.
The arrested individuals include Ruwan's 45-year-old wife, Shanika Lakmini, and his 48-year-old sister, Samanthi Nirmala.
The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Hulfsdorp Magistrate's Court tomorrow (01) for further legal proceedings.
