In a notable development within Sri Lanka's political landscape, former Army Commander General Daya Ratnayake has officially become a member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and assumed the role of the party's senior advisor on state affairs, as confirmed by the Opposition Leader's office.
General Ratnayake's induction into the SJB ranks was formalized following his membership approval and appointment by SJB leader Sajith Premadasa. The seasoned military leader brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously spearheaded the infantry force of the Sri Lankan Army during the protracted conflict against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
