At a ceremonial sitting of the Supreme Court, ten attorneys were sworn in as President’s Counsel (PC), a prestigious honor bestowed upon legal professionals for their eminence and adherence to high standards of conduct.
Chamantha Weerakoon, Dr. Asanga Gunawansa, Mohamed Adamaly, Harsha Fernando, Dr. Sivaji Felix, Faisza Markar, Kaushalya Nawaratne, Upul Kumarapperuma, Viran Corea, and Eraj de Silva took their oaths before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya PC and judges from various courts, including the apex, High, District, and Chief Magistrate’s Courts in Colombo.
President’s Counsel status is granted by the President under Article 33 (cc) of the Constitution, recognizing individuals who have attained eminence in the legal profession and upheld exemplary standards of conduct and professionalism.
