Executive-grade government officers across various departments have initiated a trade union action today, January 29th. The Joint Committee of All-Island Executive Officers announced the collective action, citing unresolved issues as the catalyst for their protest.
Chairing the joint committee, H.L.A. Udayasiri, emphasized that the trade union action stems from a multitude of demands that have long awaited attention. He underlined the significance of convening a conference with the participation of executive-grade officers from all government sectors to address the grievances comprehensively.
"Today, executive officers from government sectors, representing the joint committee, have opted to engage in a trade union action, encompassing island-wide and parallel services, along with departmental services. Executive officers from departmental services, including the Proprietorship Service, Education Administration Service, Ayurvedic Medical Service, and Surveying of the country, regarded as vital nationwide services, will convene in Colombo for a conference," Udayasiri stated.
Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Udayasiri emphasized the necessity of providing concrete solutions to the unresolved professional challenges faced by executive service officers.
