The six students from Sabaragamuwa University, who were arrested in connection with the incident of ragging of a female student at Sabaragamuwa University, have been released on bail.
The suspects were produced before the Balangoda Magistrate's Court this afternoon (29) and they were released on bail of Rs. 100,000 each.
Police have arrested six fourth-year students from Sabaragamuwa University following allegations of ragging a female student within the university premises.
The Samanalaweva Police initiated an investigation in response to a complaint lodged through the 1997 hotline, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
Reportedly, the detained individuals belong to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages at Sabaragamuwa University. They were taken into custody yesterday (28) after being summoned to the Samanalawewa Police Station.
Aged between 23 and 25 years old, the arrested students hail from various locations including Morawaka, Rukgahawila, Aluhtarama, Imaduwa, and Kithalawa.
