At least 30 shops were ravaged by a blaze that erupted near Mawanella town's main bus stand last night (28).
Prompt intervention by the police, alongside the local council's firefighting unit and residents, managed to extinguish the flames.
The inferno extensively damaged shops vending fruits, textiles, and plastic goods.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed and the Mawanella Police are conducting further investigations.
