Sports Minister Harin Fernando has disclosed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has lifted the ban imposed on Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) with immediate effect.

The revelation was made by the minister, who anticipates an official statement from the ICC to follow shortly.

The ban, which was implemented on November 10, had suspended SLC's membership, citing serious breaches of its obligations as a member. The ICC had asserted that the governing body was in violation of the requirement to autonomously manage its affairs, emphasizing the need to prevent government interference in the governance, regulation, and administration of cricket in Sri Lanka.

With the ban now lifted, Sri Lanka Cricket is expected to resume its active participation in international cricket, marking a positive turn of events for the cricketing community in the country. Details regarding the specific reasons for the ban being lifted and any conditions attached to the reinstatement are anticipated to be outlined in the forthcoming official statement from the International Cricket Council.
